When the original Christians assembled

by Robert Girard

The meetings of the church are intended to be more than a sitting-and-lsitening-without-getting-involved affair. …  The record of a few early Christian meetings is preserved for us in the New Testament. They are never called “worship services.” even though the early Christians often worshipped together. … When the original Christians assembled, it was not merely “to worship.”  It was to be “the church together” — whatever that might involve. … Christianity is, by nature, not primarily individual but collective.
